Ruth Chinezelimnjo Olisadum, an Enugu State resident, has detailed how she was swindled out of N262,500 by Peter Ozoike and Nnadi Bright Chigozie, two accredited agents and employees of Edible Herbs Ltd., in 2021.

Olisadum said she met Ozoike and Nnaji in 2021 when she was sick and was referred to the Edible Herbs centre located at 21 Edinburgh road, New Layout, Enugu, for a solution to her health challenge. She said she became an affiliate of the company after she became well.

“When I was sick, someone directed me to approach the Edible Herbs Ltd. centre close to my residence. I got their drugs and after a while, I regained my good health. While receiving their attention for my treatment, Peter Ozoike explained the benefits of joining their company and I subscribed to it. My affiliate number was 234511974,” Olisadum explained to FIJ.

At a point, Olisadum explained, Ozoike promoted a virtual business to her and other affiliates in Enugu. The business was an online investment platform called Black Wall Street.

“Ozoike, who is the director of the centre, registered Nnaji and instructed him to register other interested affiliates. The business seemed good to me and I later deposited N262,500 to Chigozie’s GTBank account on June 21, 2021.

“According to them, I would be getting $100 profit monthly, starting from July 2021. Nnaji also assured me that the profit was exclusive of my investment sum, meaning I could request for it anytime I wanted to discontinue the investment.

“When nothing was forthcoming from it, I asked Chigozie to tell me the state of my investment and he said they had not started paying investors. At a point, I asked him to show me evidence of my investment, but he could not.

“He said he had lost access to the evidence. He said his computer developed faults sometime and he formatted it. It was after this that I knew they had swindled me out of my hard-earned money.

“In their attempt to frustrate me completely, both of them disconnected me from calling them on the phone. Ozoike blocked me and Nnaji also blocked my line. Whenever I went to their office, their new workers would tell me they were not in the office.

“Before blocking my line, Ozoike had pleaded that he would refund my money, and that I put my mind at rest, not knowing it was an insincere talk.”

According to information shared to FIJ, she is about to be homeless because she can’t renew her rent.

FIJ contacted Nnaji on the phone on March 15 for comments. He confirmed receiving the money from Olisadum for the purpose of investing it in Black Wall Street.

“It is true that I collected the money from her for that purpose. She told me to refund her because she was no longer interested, but I am also an investor on the platform and I have not been paid. The platform at a time told us that they had a downtime and would soon commence settling their small investors before the big ones,” she said.

“I am hopeful that the platform will pay me in August and I will pay her. I do not have access to the evidence because I was not the person who activated the investment directly. I linked up with someone who did it on my behalf.”

FIJ spoke with Ezeonwuka Ngozi, the manager of Edible Herbs’ Lagos head office, on Friday, and she said that Ozoike was a licensed distributor of the company.

“Edible Herbs is a multi-level marketing company. We give our products to marketers and pay them on the basis of their points at the end of every month. I know Peter Ozoike because he is our agent, but I do not know Nnadi Bright Chigozie. I also do not know Ruth, and I am not aware of her investment,” she said.
