Afriex, a money transfer platform, has credited Mabel Yakubu*, a Lagos resident, with N220,000.
This came after FIJ reported how the company failed to credit Yakubu’s wallet with the sum since she made the transaction on January 16.
“Afriex has finally credited the wallet I operate with them with my N220,000,” Yakubu told FIJ on Saturday evening.
“I received the notification that my wallet had been credited on Friday evening, a day after you published the story.

“Thank you FIJ, for stepping in. I really appreciate this. This was a battle I had been fighting all alone since January 16.
“Thank you.”
On Thursday, FIJ reported how Afriex kept on telling Yakubu that it had not received the N220,000 she transferred to it from her Access Bank account since January 16.

Yakubu intended to use the N220,000 for her daughter’s World Education Services (WES) credential evaluation.
The financial platform’s continuous denial forced the Lagos resident to request her account statement and a printout proving the transfer she made was successful from Access Bank.
Despite sending the documents and proof to Afriex, the platform continued to tell Yakubu it had not received the sum for 29 days. This went on until FIJ published a report about Yakubu’s ordeal on Wednesday.
