Tamunoemi Mac-Barango, a staff member of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), has narrated how Aero Contractors refused to refund his money after a failed flight.
Mac-Barango told FIJ that he booked a ticket with the commercial airline operator on April 17, 2023, for his planned Abuja-Port-Harcourt journey.
The flight was scheduled to take off at 8:30 am on April 21. Unexpectedly, he got a text message before the take-off day that the scheduled operation had been cancelled due to unforeseen operational challenges.

“On April 17, I bought a ticket with Aero Contractors for ₦47,160.00 for a flight that was scheduled to operate the Abuja-PHC route from 8:30 am on April, 21,” the civil servant explained to FIJ.
“However, on April 18, I got a text message from the airline informing me that the flight had been cancelled.”
He further stated that he requested a refund of his money. The cash request form obtained by FIJ shows that he submitted his request on April 30 alongside his booking reference 14KL1T.
“As a result, I filled out a refund request form. It is now nearing two months since this happened, but I have yet to get a refund,” he said.
“I provided all I was asked to make available for them to process my application. I was assured of a refund in 28 days.
“Up till now, they have neither returned my money nor communicated to me why that has not happened.”
The airline spoke with this newspaper over the phone on May 26 through Blessing, a call centre agent, who promised to alert the finance unit to the passenger’s request.
Blessing said, “I have confirmed that the passenger has submitted a refund request to us. We are in the process of refunding his money. I will relay this conversation to our finance unit for their action.”
