Kunle Oguntegbe, a Nigerian resident in Italy, has accused eDreams, an online travel agency, of failing to refund him seven months after cancelling a flight he booked with them.

Oguntegbe told FIJ that he booked a flight from Lagos to Paris in November via the eDreams app for €980 but cancelled it because he could not make it.

He said he booked another flight following the laid down procedures on eDreams’ app, but till date, they have refused to refund his money.

“E-Dreams promised to refund me within three months after cancellation, but till date they have not sent my money,” Oguntegbe told FIJ.

“To get a refund, I was supposed to use their platform to book from the same location to the same destination, which I did.

“I fulfilled all their requirements, yet they haven’t refunded my money. I have reached out to them several times but they are incommunicado.”

He said he contacted the company frequently, but he got no meaningful response. The customer care numbers failed to connect him with a call representative.

Oguntegbe also said that eDreams took €50 from his account for a premium plan that he did not sign up for. He stated that the company claimed he registered for “one prime registration”.

He also said that eDreams sent him a mail on Friday, saying that a flight ticket he booked from Lagos to Naples was successful, despite not booking a flight.

“They said the flight would take off in January 2023. I did not book any flight. I only want my money back,” he said.

On the internet, FIJ found a page where several people described eDreams as a fraudulent company. Posts from the page suggest that many eDreams customers are encountering problems similar to Oguntegbe’s.

An email sent to eDreams on the matter had not responded at press time.
