When Justus Obasi, a resident of Anambra State, submitted all the necessary paperwork to receive his deceased mother’s entitlements from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in 2017, little did he know he would still be on the same course seven years later.

He told FIJ that he and his siblings teaming up to request their mother’s benefit was not enough, as he had emailed FRSC occasionally to no avail.

According to Obasi, the only thing the commission did after his mother’s death was cover her burial ceremony in 2017 and pay some of her insurance benefits. They have refused to release her pension and gratuity.

He said his mother was an FRSC official from 1991 to her death in September 2017 as an assistant corps commander after a brief illness in Awka.

“We started processing her benefits in 2017, and till now, we have not got anything. We visited Abuja from Awka for some benefits, but FRSC did nothing,” Obasi told FIJ.

“I have made efforts to contact CCCCCC, but they said it was not their fault we had not got it because some parts had to come from the federal government and the FRSC. We have called the FRSC and even contacted the sector command in Awka RS5.3, but nothing has happened. Going from Anambra to Abuja to submit documents has been hectic.”

“We have submitted the documents needed to get her pension, but no one has communicated anything. We contacted the National Pension Commission (PenCom) but got no feedback, like First Guaranty Trust and the FRSC.”

FIJ emailed FRSC via the address [email protected], but they have not responded.
