Abductors of David Mayowa Adinlewa, a lecturer in the Department of Educational Management in the Faculty of Education, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State, have demanded a ransom of N20million from his wife, FIJ can report.
FIJ gathered that Adinlewa was kidnapped on Friday evening along Akure/Ikere Road while en route to Ekiti, where he was to visit his family.
In the audio of a phone call obtained by FIJ, Adinlewa can be heard pleading with a female colleague to help raise funds so that his wife can pay the ransom.
“We have been walking since yesterday and my legs are even injured. We have not eaten since,” he said in the audio.

Ekiti, Ondo Police’s Conflicting Accounts on Abduction
When FIJ contacted Sunday Abutu, the spokesman of the Ekiti State Police Command, he said he was unaware of the incident and advised our reporter to contact the Ondo State command.
However, Funmilayo Odunlami, spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command, claimed the two police commands were “working assiduously to secure the release”.
“We are talking about a human life here and since it happened at the boundary of the two states, both of us have been working together on it,” she noted.
Odunlami added that she was not aware of any demand for ransom.
Victor Akinpelu, AAUA’s spokesman, was yet to answer FIJ’s calls. He also has not responded to a text message sent for comments.
