Access Bank has refunded N360,000 to Abiodun Badmus, a Lagos State resident who erroneously transferred the sum to the wrong bank account.
This came after FIJ published a report on the matter on Friday.
“Access Bank refunded the N360,000 to my account this morning,” Badmus said in a telephone interview with FIJ on Monday.
“Thank you so much, I really appreciate your efforts.
“This was one issue I have been trying to get the bank to resolve since July 26. This refund could not have been possible without your help.
“I reported the matter to you on Wednesday, I got my money back the following Monday. This seems like magic. Thank you so much. God bless FIJ.”
While trying to pay a client for services rendered on July 26, Badmus erroneously transferred the sum to a stranger.
Interestingly, Badmus, his client and the stranger whose account the N360,000 was transferred to all operated Access Bank accounts.
When he subsequently reported the erroneous transfer at an Access Bank branch in Yola, Adamawa State, he was instructed to obtain and submit a court order to initiate a fund recovery process.

When Badmus submitted the court order at the same branch on August 8, he did not get any positive response from its officials. He waited for more than a month. The bank officials continued to tell him that the fund recovery request was still being worked on.
He further liaised with the bank’s customer care desk for a resolution on the matter but the responses he received from the financial institution’s officials he spoke with were also not helpful.
The matter remained unresolved for over two months until he contacted FIJ on Wednesday.

I commend your efforts on this platform, especially at what seems to be a communal and personal level. Well done guys!
Can you possibly do a piece on the really deplorable state of the roads in Dawaki inside news engineering?
I moved there over four years ago and we have repeatedly been told that the reason why the government has not tended to the roads is because the original inhabitants (the Bagi people) are resisting change and development. I sincerely doubt that.
The roads are in places where ex majors and property owners build their personal houses but nothing has been done about the roads.
It has ruined cars and caused more harm than good.
You would expect that in a location like this with the caliber of persons and quality of houses, the roads would be great. Please, I believe strongly that some media attention on the matter will move things along.
