Olumide Ojo, a poultry farmer based in Ibadan, Oyo State, has accused Air Peace of refusing to return his money after cancelling his flight.

Ojo had booked an Air Peace flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt and back to Lagos, but on September 10, he asked an Air Peace customer service employee if he could return to Abuja from Port Harcourt instead of Lagos.

“It was doable, according to the call representative. My flight was later rescheduled for October 3 at 6:40 pm. I adored the concept,” he stated.

On September 20, Ojo received a call from Air Peace, informing him that his rescheduled flight would depart at 11:40 am rather than 6:40 pm. In an email, he objected to the plan, saying the timing was inconvenient.

“I assured them I could not meet up with the change in time because the earliest time I could leave Port Harcourt was 5 pm on October 3,” Ojo explained.

The air line acknowledged Ojo’s mail and provided him with a template for obtaining a refund. They further indicated that he would only be eligible for a refund after 10-14 business days and that he would receive N29,000 instead of the N30,000 he paid for the ticket. He accepted because he had another flight scheduled.

Ojo emailed Air Peace at the end of the 14-day period, asking why he had not received a refund, but he never received an answer. Up till now, Air Peace has neither answered his call nor refunded him.

When FIJ contacted Air Peace, their telephone lines were not reachable. At press time, they had also not responded to a text message sent to them.

On November 1, FIJ reported how a female lawyer used a ‘dash of madness’ to get herself on Air Peace’s cancelled flight. Despite booking the flight three months earlier, it was cancelled, but until she confronted them, she did not have a chance of getting back on the flight.
