Dana Airline, a Nigerian aviation company, has made a refund of N144,000 to Yomi Oduneye, the Abuja-based civil servant whose family’s flight was abruptly cancelled.
Oduneye told FIJ that the airline credited his account with the refund on Monday.
“Good afternoon, FIJ. Dana Air credited me today,” he said.

On Thursday, FIJ reported how Dana Airline cancelled a March 1 flight scheduled to convey Oduneye’s family from Abuja to Lagos.
Oduneye had told FIJ that after the airline cancelled the flight, he immediately requested for a refund of the ticket fees but the airline failed to issue it.
“I booked a flight for my family with Dana Air. The flight was scheduled for March 1. However, 24 hours to the scheduled departure, Dana Air sent a message that the flight had been cancelled for operational reasons. We got another ticket with another airline because they needed to be in Lagos urgently,” he told FIJ.
“After the cancellation, I immediately requested for a refund of N144,000 from Dana Air, and they gave me a plethora of conditions I met to get my money.

“To my greatest surprise, each time I followed up on the refund, Dana gave an excuse that it was still processing it. It’s over a month already, and I have not received the refund.”
Oduneye was credited with his refund after FIJ’s story.
