Justus Obasi, an Anambra-based man, can now breathe a sigh of relief after his family received some of the entitlements of his deceased mother, a former staffer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who passed away seven years ago.
This long-overdue relief came on June 28, barely a month after FIJ published a second report on the FRSC’s refusal to ensure that the deceased’s kids got their entitlements.

Obasi told FIJ that his family received N12 million as part of his mother’s entitlement and that the housing funds and two Group Life Insurance funds were the only entitlements left.
“I want to give you an update. As of today [June 28], they have paid the pension. What remains is some of the group life insurance and the housing fund. I want to thank FIJ for the voice it gave to my family. I don’t know how to thank the people at FIJ enough. I’m grateful,” Obasi told FIJ.
In May 2023, FIJ first reported that despite submitting all the required paperwork to receive his mother’s entitlements from the FRSC in 2017, Obasi did not make any progress.
