Danladi Aguye, the lawmaker representing Kogi Lokoja Constituency, has paid N200,000 owed to Rayo Akinsowon, founder of My Times Production, two days after FIJ published a story about the unpaid debt.
Akinsowon, a visual content creator, said the story pushed Aguye’s team to act.
“Aguye paid up the balance within 48 hours after your story. After the article, his team called and arranged the payment,” he said.

In October, Aguye hired Akinsowon to produce a documentary about the achievements of his administration in the constituency. To build a long-term working relationship, Akinsowon agreed to do the project for N300,000, a big discount from his usual rate.
But the job was tougher than expected. Key footage got corrupted and had to be reshot. During this time, Akinsowon also lost his mother but kept working to finish the project.
Despite completing the documentary, he waited over a month for the balance after receiving an initial N100,000. Akinsowon told FIJ that he had tried through all the right means to get his balance out after completing the job.
FIJ had called the lawmaker on December 17 and he promised he would discuss with Akinsowon and pay him appropriately if the creative would call him.
“I begged for the balance,” Akinsowon said. “I called his assistant, his SLA, but nothing happened. They stopped responding.”
The situation only changed after FIJ’s report.
“Thank you, FIJ team. God bless you,” Akinsowon said after receiving the payment.
