The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has made a refund of N81,800 to Maryam Omotayo, a Lagos-based trader who experienced a failed PoS transaction.

Omotayo confirmed to FIJ on Tuesday evening that she had received a refund from the bank.

“My money was reversed on Monday evening,” Omotayo said.

“Thank you, FIJ. I am grateful.”

FIJ had reported how Omotayo’s N81,800 was stuck between UBA and Baxi PoS after a January 28 transaction on Saturday.

“On January 28, I went to use my United Bank for Africa (UBA) debit card on a Baxi PoS,” she had said.

“The status of the transaction read ‘declined’, but the sum left my account.

“I have visited the Badagry branch of UBA to fill a dispense error form several times, but nothing has been done about it,” she said.

When FIJ contacted both UBA and Baxi, they insisted that none of them had received the money from Omotayo.

However, the trader subsequently received her refund two days after FIJ’s story.
