VFS Global, a technological company for diplomatic missions, has refunded N19,650 to Rasaki Raji, a Lagos-based researcher.
This development came two days after FIJ reported how the company failed to reverse Raji’s money for seven months after an online transaction.
A grateful Raji told FIJ he was happy the company refunded his money today after he had lost all hope.
“It is my joy to inform you that VFS Global has refunded the sum of N19,650 erroneously deducted from my account during my visa processing to Norway in May 2022,” Raji told FIJ.
“I extend my sincere appreciation to the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) for the intervention that has forced VFS Global to refund my money. I believe all meaningful individuals and civil entities like FIJ can fight and end impunity in our country.”
On Saturday, FIJ reported that despite communicating via email constantly with VFS to reverse his money, the company failed to do so.
In May, Raji found himself in the company’s web when he applied for the VFS Global interview.
According to Raji, when he tried to pay for the service through a payment gateway provided by the company, it was unsuccessful on several occasions.
He later realised that VFS Global had deducted his money twice. Until Friday, Raji did not succeed in getting his money back.
