Passengers scheduled for an Air Peace flight from Lagos to Abuja on Sunday are still stranded at the Murtala Muhammed Airport 1, Lagos, FIJ can report.
One of the passengers, who asked not to be named, told FIJ that the flight was initially scheduled for 2:15 pm on June 4, but the airline sent an email the previous day to announce that it had been postponed to 6:20 pm.
The passenger noted that despite the last-minute disruption to her itinerary, she arrived at the airport as early as 5:00 pm, only to be disappointed by the airline again.
“We waited till 6:20 pm, but there was no sign that we would take off anytime soon. A little before or after 6:30 pm, they announced that the flight had been rescheduled to around 8:00 pm.”
The source said all this while, the airline never explained the reason for the rescheduling.
“They came back again around past 8:00 pm with another announcement that the flight, which had been moved multiple times, would not take off until 8:50 pm. The announcement was not even clear because the announcer did not speak clearly into the microphone,” she added.
“But the summary we could get was that the plane that was supposed to come in from Abuja, which we were supposed to board at 8:30pm or thereabouts won’t land until 8:50 pm.”
As of 9:15pm when FIJ was last in contact with the passenger, who is now considering abandoning the trip and returning home, boarding had not yet been announced.
UPDATE: FIJ understands that the plane eventually took off at 9:57pm.
