04.01.2025 Featured Armed Rustlers Kill 2 Policemen, Steal Over 200 Cows in Kebbi

Armed rustlers killed two policemen and stole over 200 cows in the wee hours of Friday during their invasion of Alhaji Lawal Black Farm and nearby Fulani settlements in Natsini Village, along the Argungu/Kangiwa road, Kebbi State.

A Natsini resident told FIJ that the armed criminals rushed to the compound of Alhaji Lawal Black Farm, where the cattle were kept, and stole over 200 cows.

“We all ran away when they came, so we didn’t lose anyone,” the source told FIJ. “The men went to Alhaji Lawal Black Farm and carried away more than 200 cows. At dawn, some of the cows returned home.”

Confirming the incident, Nafiu Abubakar, the Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), told FIJ that the state command lost two officers during a gun duel with the terrorists.

“On January 3, at about 1 am, armed hoodlums suspected to be Lakurawa bandits on motorcycles invaded Alhaji Lawal Black Farm and nearby Fulani settlements located at Natsini village, along the Argungu/Kangiwa road, and rustled an unspecified number of cows,” he said.

“On receipt of the report, a team of police safer highway patrol immediately rushed to the scene, engaged the bandits in a gun duel, pursued them, forcing the bandits to escape into the forest with gunshot wounds, and successfully recovered some of the rustled cows.

“Regrettably, two police officers lost their lives during the encounter.”
