07.08.2022 Featured Bandits Kill Vigilante, Kidnap Couple in Katsina

Bandits killed a vigilante and abducted a couple at Shola Quarters in Katsina town, Katsina State capital, on Sunday.

Eyewitnesses said the armed men also injured two people during the attack, according to the PUNCH.

FIJ learnt that the bandits infiltrated Shola Quarters on Saturday evening and launched an assault on the community on Sunday morning.

“The gunmen arrived in our community on Saturday evening and mingled with residents,” a resident was quoted to have said. Bandits

“They began operation around 1 am and were shooting indiscriminately. We contacted security officials who later arrived after the gunmen had carried out their operation and left the community.

“The gunmen killed Abba, who was a vigilante member. They also abducted a husband and wife and injured two people also. We cannot quantify items raided from our community by now as we are busy with the preparation for Abba’s burial.”

Gambo Isah, the spokesman of the Katsina State Police Command, confirmed the attack.

“Our operatives are still on operation there. We shall give you details in due course,” he said.
