Bandits have abducted Habibu Mainasara, the provost of the College of Arts and Animal Science in Zamafara State.

Mainasara was whisked away in the early hours of Sunday.

FIJ gathered that the provost was picked at his official residence within the premises of the Government Science Secondary School in the Bakura area of the state.

This is coming few hours after the marauding bandits kidnapped the Emir of Kajuru and 12 of his family members in Kaduna.

On Thursday, more than 35 peasant farmers were massacred in the Maradun Local Government Area of the state during a reprisal attack.

Nigeria, especially the north, is battling mounting insecurity, crimes and killings, with the Federal Government unable to stop the perpetrators.
