Heavily armed men suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists have invaded the Jos Correctional Centre, FIJ can report.

On Sunday evening, the armed men stormed Jos wearing black masks and firing heavy artillery to break into the correctional centre.

FIJ gathered that prison warders who could not withstand the firepower ran for their lives, leaving their duty posts empty.

“Right now, they are attacking the prison,” a panic-stricken resident told FIJ. “We just saw the gunmen, wearing black masks, shooting at the Jos Prison which is opposite the police headquarters. As I speak to you, I can’t even go out of where I am.”

FIJ gathered that some captured Boko Haram terrorists were brought into the correctional centre a few weeks ago. Prison warders are suggesting that the gunmen invaded the prison facility to free the terrorists.

“We’re suspecting that they’re terrorists because this has never happened before,” an inside source told FIJ. “Although security agents are trying to stop them, this attack has gone on for several hours now.”
