The Intelligence Response Team, a formation supervised by the IGP, eventually arrested Thomas in Lagos State on December 13 on the basis of a Facebook post she had made cursing Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, and the IGP. She was later transferred to Abuja where she was detained for several days without being arraigned in court.

Following intensive media backlash, the police arraigned her before the court on December 20. The court remanded Thomas in the Suleja Custodial Centre.

Until her bail on Monday, her bail application had been stalled multiple times making her spend Christmas Day, her birthday and New Year’s Day in prison.
