Harold Udokwere, a retired brigadier-general of the Nigerian Army, has been stabbed to death in his Abuja home.

A source told FIJ that the retired military man was killed during a robbery attack on his home at Kubusa Junction, Lokogoma, Abuja, in the early hours of Saturday.

In a video shared with FIJ by the source, three men suspected to be the armed robbers who attacked the residence of the retired brigadier-general, were seen being interrogated in Hausa.

The source, who is familiar with the deceased’s family, told FIJ on Monday morning that the suspected three-man armed robber gang was apprehended by the FCT Police.

FIJ also saw another video where one of the suspected armed robbers, who identified himself as Ibrahim Ibrahim, was being interrogated alone in Hausa.

He said that six people were supposed to carry out the attack on Udokwere’s home but the number was later reduced to five.

“Six of us were supposed to carry the attack, but we were later reduced to five. Sani, Nafiu, Alaka, me, and one other person whose name I can’t recall. But Nafiu might know his name,” said Ibrahim.

When the interrogator asked where they kept the stolen gun belonging to the deceased, he said it was in the possession of one Alhaji Ashiru. Ibrahim also said that Nafiu, one of them, used a knife to stab the retired brigadier-general repeatedly.

FIJ’s source had earlier narrated how a group of three armed robbers attacked Udokwere’s home around 3 am on Saturday. He said that this was not the first time the home of the retired brigadier-general had been targeted and attacked by armed robbers.

“His wife said that it was the third time their home had been attacked. The robbers asked her for all her jewellery, and they took his pistol before she began hearing gunshots,” the source told FIJ.

FIJ also learned that the retired brigadier-general was not the only one attacked by the armed robbers. One of his estate’s security guards was also attacked, and he sustained injuries.

FIJ’s source said that the injured guard was receiving treatment at a hospital in Abuja.

FIJ called Josephine Adeh, the FCT police spokesperson, to confirm the arrest of the suspects, but she did not respond. FIJ also sent her a text message, but it has not been answered.
