Heroshe, a freight company that delivers goods from countries like the US, UK and China to Nigeria, has left many customers stranded after failing to deliver goods months after the expected delivery date.
The sources who spoke to FIJ said they had used the company in the past. Abdul-Wahab Oyekan, a businessman who buys computers from the US to sell in Nigeria, was a first-time exception. Oyekan told FIJ on Monday that up to 500 other customers had been affected by Heroshe’s failure.
Oyekan, an Ikorodu resident, explained that the first excuse the company gave was that there was a delay because of “limited cargo flights” during the holiday season.
After the holidays passed, the company was still yet to fulfil its duties.

“We knew the holiday excuse was a lie, but we decided to wait for them. From October to November, they were shipping just one cargo each month. They promised to ship every week, now they have plenty logs[sic] of goods in their office. Most of us are business people, and they are about to ruin some of us,” Oyekan said.
“Just yesterday, one of us was locked up in a police cell for their inability to deliver a customer’s good that had been paid for.”

Oyekan told FIJ that it was the first time he was using the company. He said that online reviews had convinced him to use Heroshe.
“I searched for the best shipping companies and the reviews I saw about them were very positive. I used to ship through another person before, but his shipping rates were high. He charged like $60 per laptop,” Oyekan explained.
FIJ also found some of those reviews online.

The worst situation for Oyekan is not just that his N1.8 million worth of goods were yet to arrive in Nigeria, but the N1 million loan he took from EaseMoni keeps accruing interest with no goods to sell.
‘Heroshe’s Failure to Deliver My Special Keyboard Has Made Me Continuously Work With Unbearable Pain’
Kalu (as he preferred to be named) is a software engineer working in Lagos. He has a condition called ‘mouse shoulder’.
Mouse shoulder is a type of strain injury that causes pain in the affected person’s neck, shoulder and upper back. The condition is caused by extended use of a mouse without proper arm support.
Kalu decided to order a split keyboard in November together with some computers to be shipped by Heroshe.

“At first, there was no warning about any possible delay. Not long after that, I started hearing rumours of shipping delays. They’ve had some sort of delay in the past but it does not exceed two weeks,” Kalu told FIJ.
“This delay happened up until December. Then we finally got an update that it will be shipped on December 29. On January 6, we got an email that it was undergoing clearance. I’ve been shipping long before now, and I have never seen clearance take up to ten days.
“I have to keep working with the pain because there’s nothing I can do to tackle the situation than just wait for Heroshe.”

Taiwo Ojulari (pseudonym), another Heroshe customer who spoke to FIJ, said that he was in a similar but worse situation when compared to Oyekan’s.
Ojulari said that he first shipped some goods with Heroshe in September and, because he had been using the company’s services since early 2024 without any issues, he shipped more goods in the subsequent months as he hoped that the issue would be resolved before December.
He told FIJ that his goods stuck with Heroshe were worth about N40 million.

“I shipped 106 items. From them, only six have been shipped. And from the three, only three have been delivered. The other three have been showing ‘clearance’ for the past three weeks,” Ojulari said.
“Since the festive period was finally over, we should have gotten our items.”
A source told FIJ that Heroshe had a WhatsApp group where Osinachi Ukomadu, the CEO, sent frequent videos. In these messages, Heroshe’s CEO has continually promised that the issues would be resolved.

When FIJ called Heroshe on Wednesday to ask about Oyekan’s goods, the company’s customer support representative stated that they did not recognise Oyekan as a customer.
“Currently, we don’t have goods by September that have not been shipped. The person’s claims are false. If he can give you his correct name, then we can check properly,” she added.
