David Adeleke (Davido), a popular Nigerian artiste and nephew of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has publicly attacked Osun State Commissioner of Police Umar Abba with threats and criticism.
The musician accused Abba of disregarding the rule of law in Osun.
In a series of posts on his X page on Monday, Davido lashed out at the police commissioner, calling him a “disgrace” and issuing threats.

“Mr Umar Abba, Osun State commissioner, you are a disgrace to your children! Game on. All of us go mad together. Werey,” Davido posted.
He continued, “Mr Commissioner, respect the rule of law. You are not madder or crazier than us. Make we all kuku mad. MEN MOUNT. I will post you every day everywhere, Mr man. Try me.”
Davido’s outburst came barely 24 hours after Governor Adeleke, his uncle, accused former governor Gboyega Oyetola of planning to cause mayhem in Osun State and attempting to reinstate the 2022 court-sacked local government chairmen.
The heated exchange follows rising political tensions in Osun, with the police being accused of taking sides in the ongoing dispute between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adeleke had said that Oyetola was giving illegal directives to security operatives in the state because he is President Bola Tinubu’s nephew
Davido’s social media posts are similar to what has got different individuals arrested by the police in recent times. These individuals were detained and even prosecuted for making public statements against government officials.
Human rights activist Abiodun Thomas, for example, was arrested on December 13 for cursing Seyi Tinubu, Bola Tinubu’s son. The police accused her of “bullying and harassing” the president’s son through social media posts under the Cybercrimes Act.

Policemen abducted and detained Babatunde Ogunsanwo, a TikToker, in Lagos for “insulting” Tinubu, Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in videos shared online.
At press time, the Osun Police Command had not issued any official response to the Osun governor’s accusations or the scathing criticisms and threats from his nephew.
