Ovi Kuton, a Lagos-based car dealer, has accused Dele Ologbosere, a Nigerian residing in the United States, of holding on to his $750 after they both had a naira-to-dollar currency conversion agreement and transaction in May.
Kuton told FIJ that Ologbosere stopped answering his calls and responding to his messages in June, after collecting the sum of N419,000 from him with a promise that he would send him $750 equivalent.

“He (Dele Ologbosere) lives and works in America. I have known him since he was in Nigeria. He said that he could help me to convert naira to dollar because I bought and sold cars as an auto dealer. So, he told me that anytime he needed naira from Nigeria, I could send some to him and he would give me the equivalent in dollars,” Kuton told FIJ.

“We did the first one and it worked out. The second time, the amount I was to collect was about $750. When I told him to pay me back in dollars or give me my money, he refused to pay me the money. I was angry about the delay, so I asked him and he told me not to be rude to him.
“Ever since, he has been acting strangely. He has refused to answer my calls. He promised heaven and earth that he would pay the money back, but I have not seen any refund.”

FIJ’s WhatsApp messages to Ologbosere were read but not responded to.
