21.11.2022 Featured Delta Housekeeper Brutalised by Boss ‘for Breaking Picture Frame’

Blessing Enuewegu, a housekeeper in Delta State, has been physically assaulted by her boss for breaking a picture frame.

According to Enuewegu, the incident happened on Saturday at her 52-year-old boss’s residence along Jocceco Drive in Ekpan, Delta State.

In a video obtained by FIJ, Enuewegu narrated how she narrowly escaped death after she sustained bodily injuries as a result of the heavy beating she suffered in the hands of boss.

Na person wey I dey follow work na him beat me like this. E say I fall him frame. E bite my hand; march me for womb. I even see period by force. E use i’m knee dey elbow me, slap me, and march my private part,” she said.

Israel Joe, a Facebook user who posted the video on Sunday, told FIJ that he could not provide the employer’s name.

“I spoke with the woman a while ago and she is recuperating and I also spoke to the DPO who said he will stop at nothing to ensure justice is done. We will give update shortly on the development,” Joe said.

“The case has been reported to the Ekpan Divisional Headquarters of the Nigerian Police, Delta State Command, and we urge the DPO CSP Bulus Rimamchirika Musa who is already on the issue to champion this course of justice by arresting and charging him (Enuewegu’s boss) accordingly.”

FIJ made several phone calls to Bright Edafe, the state’s police spokesperson, for comments on the matter but they were not answered. A text message sent to him had also not been responded to at press time.
