In 2024, the federal government allocated N100 million for the construction of rural roads in Emede, Isoko South Local Government Area (LGA), Delta State.
However, TrackaNG, a budget accountability platform, found that the road had not been constructed. Failure to construct the road has compounded the problem of flooding faced by residents of the area.
The project ought to be implemented by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).
“N100m was allocated to the Construction of Rural Roads in Emede, Isoko South LGA, Delta state in the 2024 FG Budget. We tracked this project in Enuto-Emede Road and report that it has not been done. Residents lament how flooding is a huge problem because of the bad roads,” Tracka shared on Monday.

FIJ found that only a few weeks before Tracka’s alert, Raphael Egbuwoku, a Facebook user, had complained about the same road problem in Emede.
He accused Churchill Amagada, a commissioner from the LGA, of selling the road’s contract for N80 million. He also accused the contractors who got the job of abandoning it.
Egbuwoku further claimed that a resident named Amido had lost his life. He said one of the abandoned rods killed the victim.
“Churchill Amagada must ensure the prompt completion of the Emede Internal Road. Enough is enough, Isoko land has endured too much neglect,” Egbuwoku wrote in February.

“I heard that someone, Amido by name, nearly lost his life last year due to the abandoned drainage rods left in the gutters. Churchill Amagada should meet with Olumide, to whom he sold the contract, to figure out how to complete the project.
“It is outrageous that Churchill Amagada has taken the money, yet Olumide, who has already invested heavily, has reportedly not received any payment from the government. This is pure wickedness.”
On Thursday, FIJ reported how a 96-year-old bridge in Jos, Plateau State, remains fragile despite a N200 million allocation from the federal government.
