Felix Okemini Ifesinachi, a senior special adviser on internal security to Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru, has been exposed as a cultist.

Sunday Elom, the vice chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, in Ebonyi State, ordered the indefinite suspension of Ifesinachi as a student of the school over conduct that is only identifiable with cultists on Thursday.

The school authorities stated that cultism and cultists in whatever form were an aberration on its campus and violated student code of conduct.

Ifesinachi was matriculated to study political science domiciled in the Faculty of Social Sciences on March 14. In the spirit of the matriculation, Felix mingled with some of his friends, displaying cult-related behaviour.

“The vice-chancellor has considered the report on allegation of cult-related behaviour levelled against you based on the display of cultism as shown on March 14, 2025, during the matriculation ceremony of the university,” Ifeanyi Igwe, the university registrar, wrote in a March 20 letter addressed to Ifesinachi.

“You are hereby informed of your matriculation oath and the fact that cultism and cult-related activities are unacceptable and against the rules and regulations governing students’ activities in the university as well as a security and moral threat to the University Community.

“Consequently, the vice-chancellor, on behalf of Senate, has directed that you be suspended indefinitely from the university pending the outcome of the investigation of this matter by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee of the university.

“You are, by this letter, hereby suspended from the University. This letter conveys the vice-chancellor’s directive.”

Ifesinachi became a senior special adviser to the governor of Ebonyi in June 2023. At the time Nwifuru was representing the Izzi West Senatorial District at the state assembly, Ifesinachi was his chief protocol officer.

On Tuesday, the governor relieved him of his appointment, apparently relying on the decision of the university.

A check on an inactive Facebook profile belonging to Ifesinachi revealed a host of personal and group photographs in which he wore a white shirt, black dress, yellow tie and yellow headgear. This is a dressing sense of Black Axe, which is also known as Aye Confraternity or Neo-Black Movement (NBM).

Some of the pictures, as seen on the profile, predated his appointments by the governor, an indication that he had been associated with Black Axe for a long time.

“FELIX KIDNAPPED ME”

Nwoba Chika Nwoba, a social media influencer, had reviewed the list of aides appointed by the Ebonyi governor in 2023. He spotlighted Ifesinachi as a leader of a gang that kidnapped him on January 9, 2022, in Abakaliki.

“I don’t mean to call out anyone here, but to reflect on the trajectories and current life situations of the people the Governor of Ebonyi State has given appointments so far which presents his fledgling administration as a ridiculous one,” Nwoba wrote.

“Desmond Edeke (SA Security, Ikwo): This young man comes from my community, Ekpelu in Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State. He’s a daredevil cultist and his cult name is Big Fish. In 2010, he was arrested alongside others for kidnapping of a rich business man in Abakaliki. After being in prison for over two years, court in Abakaliki released him as he didn’t join the gang for the day’s activities leading to the kidnap of the man. His mother is from the same place as the Governor. He’s now Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security,” Nwoba wrote on Facebook on June 5, 2023.

“Felix Okemini: His cult name is Jango. He has been a regular visitor to police cells and prisons for cult-related crimes. He was almost rusticated from the Ebonyi State College of Education, Ikwo over cult killings. He led the gang that kidnapped me on the 9th of January, 2022 in Abakaliki. He’s from Izzi LGA. He’s now Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security for Izzi LGA.”
