“The goal was to pursue protesters down to the Moshood Abiola Stadium. They were able to do that because there was a lot of smoke in the atmosphere for about 10 minutes. The protesters are now gathered at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.”

Nigerians trooped to streets across the country in large numbers to protest an end to bad governance on Thursday. Friday marks the second day of the protests, scheduled to run from August 1 through August 10.

This incident marks the second time policemen will fire teargas at protesters since the #EndBadGovernance protests commenced. On Thursday, the police fired teargas canisters at protesters who converged on Eagle Square for the #EndBadGovernance Protests in Abuja.
