Tori Yorgey, a journalist with WSAZ-TV in West Virginia, USA, was resilient in pursuing a live broadcast despite being hit by a car on Wednesday.
In a video that became viral on Thursday after Lee K. Howard, a CBS sports anchor/reporter, tweeted it, Yorgey is about to give Tim Irr, the anchor of the show, an update on the weather and traffic situation in the Dunbar area of the state when a grey SUV suddenly brushes her to the roadside.
Although unsettled for a moment, she gets help from an eyewitness and quickly shakes off the shock to continue reporting.
In an attempt to convince the anchor she is mentally and physically fit to handle the situation, she says, “I’m okay… Everything is fine. Oh my God! I just got hit by a car, but I’m okay. I just got hit by a car, but I’m okay, Tim”.
Yorgey’s experience is an example of the daily encounters of journalists in order to reveal the truth, and Nigerian journalists are not exempt.
Recently, Adefemi Akinsanya, a correspondent of Arise TV, was harassed by police at the Lekki Massacre memorial on October 20, 2021.
