12.04.2021 Exclusive EXCLUSIVE: Names, Ranks of the 12 Soldiers Killed by Bandits in Benue

The 11 soldiers killed alongside one captain by bandits in the Konshisha Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State on April 5 are one warrant officer, two sergeants, three corporals, one lance corporal and four privates.

FIJ had been in possession of their names since last week when it got hold of a classified document detailing how more than 150 bandits took out the military personnel in batches of five and seven, before setting their bodies ablaze and dumping them in a forest near Gbinde Village, Benue.

However, it held on to the names, as it could not confirm if the families of the deceased had been notified of the deaths. Those doubts have now been extinguished, with the deceased soldiers being laid to rest today at the military cemetery close to Wurukwum roundabout in Makurdi, capital of Benue State.
