12.05.2022 Featured Female Student Killed in Sokoto, Her Remains Burned to Ashes for Blaspheming Prophet Muhammad

A female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, simply identified as Deborah, has been burnt to death for blasphemy by an irate mob believed to be fellow students on Thursday.

The female student was assaulted and her remains burned for ‘saying unacceptable things about Prophet Muhammad’.

It was alleged that Deborah made the alleged blasphemous comment at the school hostel during a disagreement with other students. She was asked to rescind her statement and apologise, but she refused.

Deborah was said to have been whisked to the school security outpost in the college for protection by some students. However, a mob overpowered the officials, killed the lady and burned her remains to ashes.

In a video which surfaced online on Thursday, one of her attackers admitted in Hausa language that he lit the fire that burned the student to death.

A student of the institution, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident to FIJ. He revealed that the management of the school, through an official statement, has closed down the school indefinitely.

“Following today’s early morning students rampage in the college, the college management has resolved to close down the college indefinitely with immediate effect. Consequently, all students are hereby directed to vacate the college campus immediately (May 12, 2022),” the release read.
