Gunmen invaded the campus of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, over the weekend at night and abducted students, the Police and a source in Benue State have told FIJ.
The Public Relations Officer of the Police in the state, DSP Catherine Anene, told FIJ in a text message that the attack happened at about 10:20pm on April 24 and three students were abducted within the school’s premises.
However, a source who wants to remain anonymous, said five people were kidnapped. He also said the attack occurred on February 25.
“What I gave you is the report I got,” DSP Anene said, reacting to the inconsistencies.
DSP Anene said that the Commissioner of Police had ordered an investigation into the case.
A text message and calls to the school were not answered as of press time.
