At least five people have died after they were hit by a fully-loaded gas tanker on Sunday afternoon at Bode Market in Molete area of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

FIJ gathered that the driver of the tanker lost control of the steering wheel along Idi Arere expressway before swerving into the market, a few kilometres away.

Adewale Osifeso, the Oyo State Police spokesman said five deaths had been recorded and an investigation was ongoing.

FIJ further confirmed that security operatives and men of the Oyo State Fire Service had arrived at the market to prevent a gas explosion.
