Ahmed Sani-Toro, former Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), now Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has been abducted by gunmen, Daily Trust reported.
The abductors intercepted Sani-Toro and Garba Iliya, a former assistant coach of the Golden Eaglets, on Saturday night along the Abuja-Jos road.
They were returning from the wedding of the son of Aminu Maigari, a former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, in Abuja on Friday.

“It is true they were abducted close to Riyom in Plateau State when they were returning to Bauchi from Abuja,” a close friend of Sani-Toro and Iliya was quoted to have said.

“They had attended the wedding Fatiha of the son of Alhaji Aminu Maigari at the National Mosque in Abuja on Friday.
“I have been in touch with their family members. Those who kidnapped them are yet to contact the families.
“We are all praying and hoping in earnest that Allah will intervene in the unfortunate situation and they would be released unharmed.”

Toro was the Secretary-General of the NFA between 1993 and 1999. He was also a commissioner for sports in Bauchi State and former member of the House of Representatives.
There has been a steady increase in abductions by bandits or terrorists around the country. Bandits abduct citizens and foreigners often to demand for ransom.
