Journalists from Fox News and CNN have tweeted tributes to Pierre on Tuesday. Trey Yingst, Fox News International correspondent, said Pierre was “as good as they come. Selfless. Brave. Passionate”.

The Russia-Ukraine war has become increasingly dangerous for the press in the last couple of days. Brent Renaud, a journalist, was killed in Irpin on Saturday. Yevhenii Skaum, a camera operator for the Ukrainian television channel LIVE, was also killed when a TV transmission tower in Kviv was hit by shelling two weeks ago.
