An accountant based in Ondo State has narrated how Franklin Oloniju, founder of Life and Peace Development Organisation (LAPDO), a non-governmental organisation, refused to pay her salary while she worked with him.
The lady, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told FIJ that she applied to the organisation in August 2021 as an accountant but was employed the same month as an audit and compliance coordinator.
She said it was stated in her employment letter that her salary was N200,000, but Oloniju never paid her according to the offer.

“When I joined the organisation, they said they had an ongoing project, but it did not start out until February. So Oloniju did not pay me a dime from September to January,” she told FIJ.
The accountant stated that Oloniju paid her for the first time in February the sum of N45,000, as opposed to what her employment letter contains.

“He paid me N50,000 in March and deducted N5,000 for tax and pension. The work space was toxic, so I quit in April,” she said.
“I did not see anything from the pension administrator that a particular pension amount was paid into my account for my benefit. The administration was not done according to the laid down rules of the organisation. As an auditor, what I did, did not even align with how it should be.”
When FIJ contacted Oloniju of LAPDO, he said he did not owe the accountant. He stated that until she resigned in April, he paid her.
FIJ had earlier reported that an ex-staff member of LAPDO accused Oloniju of refusing to pay his salary.
