David Mayowa Adinlewa, a lecturer at the Department of Educational Management, Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, was abducted along Akure-Ikere road on Friday evening while going to see his family residing in Ekiti State.
Although Funmilayo Odunlami, the spokesman for the Ondo State Police Command, claimed she was not aware of the development, FIJ can report that the abductors have demanded a ransom of N20 million from Adinlewa’s relatives.
In a conversation with one of his colleagues over the phone on Saturday, the abductee revealed that he had been made to trek a long distance and had not eaten since his abduction.
Here is a transcript of the conversation between Adinlewa and his colleague:
Colleague: How far? Where are you? Which side are you?
Adinlewa: In the forest.
Colleague: What’s the location? Can’t you see the place?
Adinlewa: We can’t see the location here.
Colleague: We saw the message. How real is the message?
Adinlewa: I sent it. They just gave me a phone. We have been walking since yesterday. We have not eaten since yesterday. My legs are injured already.
Colleague: Who can we call?
Adinlewa: All I need now is money. I sent a message and added my wife’s account number.
Colleague: I have seen it. I just wanted to confirm if you sent the message.
Adinlewa: I sent it. They will soon take the phone from me.
Colleague: Oh God! God will be with you. He said he doesn’t know where he is.
Colleague: Hope you were not shot at?
Kidnapper (cuts in): Hello, ma. Hello. You dey hear me so?
