Rebecca Jolaoso, an Ibadan-based businesswoman, has narrated how Polaris Bank refused to help in recovering her N91,900 after the sum was debited from her account without any due authorisation.

Jolaoso told FIJ that unknown persons had carried a transaction on her account in August, despite not having a debit card on it.

“On August 20, I received a debit alert of N91,900 from an unknown source. It wasn’t a transaction I initiated,” said Jolaoso.

“When the transaction took place, I was surprised because my phone was with me all through and I don’t even use a debit card.”

Jolaoso said when she visited the bank to lodge a complaint, she was asked to call an Access Bank customer care line.

“When I made the call, the customer care agent who attended to me said the bank would investigate the unauthorised withdrawal,” said Jolaosho.

“I reached out to the bank the same day the incident happened. In fact, I visited the bank three days after my first visit, but their responses were not promising.

“Till date, Polaris Bank is yet to offer an explanation or refund my money. It has been three months and no explanation whatsoever.”

In an email exchange between Jolaoso and Polaris Bank, the bank had assured her she would receive a prompt response as her complaint had been routed but two months after the response from the bank, the institution is yet to provide her with explanations.

When FIJ sent an email to Polaris Bank for comments on the matter on Monday, one of its officials who simply referred to herself as Bertha wrote:
