The convoy of the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, was involved in a road crash on Friday while on a campaign trip to Igumale, the headquarters of Ado Local Government Area in the state.
As a result of the accident, many members of the convoy sustained varying levels of injuries and have been rushed to a medical facility for treatment.
Among those that were injured were William Ortyom, member representing Guma constituency in the state’s house of assembly, and another member from Kwande West.

While Engineer Benson Abounu, Belta State Deputy Governor, and other federal and state lawmakers in the entourage continued the journey, the victims were taken a hospital in an ambulance.
Photographs sited by FIJ showed that some vehicles were damaged after a passenger-filled vehicle collided with an SUV, leading to a crash with a few other vehicles in the convoy.
