Cultists have murdered Samson ‘Mosquito’, a member of the Aye Confraternity, at Ijagun Road, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Intelligence reports quoted 11:40 pm on Sunday as the time rival cult members cut and shot Mosquito, the victim’s nickname, to death. Mosquito’s assailants cut off his left hand.

Naija Confra, a cultism monitoring group on X, confirmed Mosquito’s death with gory images on Monday.

“After listening to all sides involved and sources on the ground, Naija Confra reports that last night, an alleged member of Aye known as Samson, alias Mosquito, was dropped by members of Eiye in front of Thandy Bar on Ijagun Road, near Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State,” Naija Confra stated on Monday.

“According to Eiye members, Mosquito was the former number 1 man (leader) of Aye, while Ayes said he held the position of Chairman, which is the number 3 man.

“Eiye members have stated that this incident was in retaliation for the death of their member, Ola Fabiyi, a final-year student who was dropped by Ayes in TASUED school on his birthday last month. After Mosquito was dropped last night, his hand was removed and taken away by the Eiye hit squad.

“We urge all sides to seek peace, as lives lost in cult clashes can never be replaced. We also call on security operatives to intervene and help bring an end to the violence. REJECT CULTISM.”

Ijagun and other Ogun communities have endured cult violence for years.

Fabiyi was murdered in Ijagun in the heat of another cult violence on July 3. A shoot-out followed in the same community on that day.

Residents and students studying in the nearby TASUED are often advised to relocate or avoid the area whenever cult clashes occur.
