Dana Air customers have expressed their disagreement with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) after it failed to announce sanctions in a Friday statement on the airline which failed to meet a refund repayment deadline.
Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, stated that Dana Air had met with NG Eagle, its partners and a new Nigerian aviation company, to handle the customers’ complaints.
The statement noted that passengers who bought tickets with Dana Air could use them for a flight with NG Eagle, while Dana Air continued to repay refunds.

“The Authority is also aware that Dana Air customers who paid for flights that were not operated due to its suspension have sought refunds of their airfares and have been patiently waiting,” the NCAA’s statement reads in part.
“In line with NCAA’s regulatory obligations, the DGCA, Capt Chris Najomo, and his management team has(sic) met with Dana Air and its new partners, NG Eagle, to resolve these complaints. The resolution is that NG Eagle will be taking up this obligation.
“To this end, Dana Air has informed that while alternative methods are being set up to handle cash refund requests, passengers who wish to use their tickets for travel can now do so with NG Eagle.”

However, Dana Air customers said they did not care much about the merger with NG Eagle; they wanted their money. FIJ found responses to the NCAA on X where customers demanded their refund and refused the offer to fly with NG Eagle.
Agu Ji Egbe, a Nigerian X user for instance, said, “I just want my money. I don’t want anything to do with Dana or NG Eagle.”
@macheteros shared the same frustration, stating, “I need my money; I’m not flying with any of you.” Azeez Alausa, another X user, echoed their sentiment. He insisted that, “I want my money. I don’t want to book any other tickets, please.”
FIJ reported that Dana Air had missed the NCAA’s two-week refund deadline. Many customers have been waiting for refunds since April.
