Robinson Ajigheye, a resident of Ibadan, Oyo State, has accused Faustina Tejiri, a Delta State-based savings scheme operator, of refusing to pay him his N175,000 for 10 months.

Ajigheye told FIJ that he had waited patiently after the savings period elapsed in May on several occasions for Tejiri to pay him, but she never did. Instead, she told him she would not pay him and asked him to do whatever he wished.

Ajigheye said that before he committed to saving N50,000 monthly with Tejiri, she assured him she was strict with those who saved with her and that people received their money promptly. After he had examined how her savings plan worked, he agreed to commit to the plan.

According to Ajigheye, Tejiri told him that he and five others were in a group and had to pay N50,000 monthly.

“In December 2023, we kicked off. I did my best to pay on time. I resigned from my job but paid in January 2024. She didn’t make a fuss when I paid my February savings at the end of the month. I paid off March and April long before the due date,” Ajigheye told FIJ.

Ajigheye said he was initially scheduled to be paid in March but was moved to May. He had no problem with this. His problem, however, began on May 31 when Tejiri did not pay him per their agreement.

“I had taken up a laptop on credit and needed to pay some money. That day, she paid me N75,000. What was left was N175,000. But in the following days, she did not take my calls and did not respond to my texts,” Ajigheye said.

He said that Tejiri asked him to be patient till the end of every month until September, but whenever it got to the end of the month, she would give him the runaround.

Later, he said, she began acting like she wanted him to beg for his money.

“I was forced to ask other contributors in the group if they had paid, and they said they had. This was after she had claimed she was still expecting some money from one of them. When I got tired of what she was doing, I made a thread on X,” Ajigheye said.

“In December, someone contacted me on her behalf after the X thread and said he would talk to her. She then contacted me around that time and promised to pay weekly, but she still didn’t pay. She would bring up a payment solution and not abide by it.

“She later got angry in December, telling me to go and collect my money from X people. She said she saw me fooling myself on X. Later, she said I should wait until the end of January and that if I couldn’t wait until then, I should go and do whatever I wanted. And then she blocked me. But this is March, and I haven’t gotten my money. Unlike others who have left her alone, I want my money back.”

FIJ called Tejiri repeatedly on Tuesday, but she declined the calls after the first one. She had not responded to our text at press time.

What is happening in the country. So much scam and deceit. Insincere people. Let her do whatever she can and pay the money. I always caution people, all these savings thing gives me the creep
