The Federal Government has just replaced Armstrong Idachaba with Balarabe Shehu Ilelah as the new Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
The announcement was made through a statement signed by Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture on Friday afternoon.
The Minister added that Ilelah’s appointment will last for a tenure of five years in the first instance.
However, the 59-year-old Idachaba was only appointed as the Acting Director-General of NBC in February 2020.
Idachaba’s removal was announced four days after he ordered all broadcast stations in the country to go off Twitter.
In an advertorial published in The Nation Newspapers on Thursday, Idachaba also asked all Online Broadcasting Service Providers and Social Media Platforms in Nigeria to register to obtain a license of operation.
