Blessing Nwonu, a resident of Ile-Ife, Osun State, has narrated how Classicwearsbytee, an Instagram thrift vendor who sells clothes, duped her out of N16,500.
Nwonu told FIJ that the vendor blocked her on social media after she paid N14,500 for a dress and N2,000 for the delivery of the dress from Lagos.
“I wanted to buy a dress from a lady with the handle ‘Classicwearsbytee‘ on Instagram on June 18. We spoke, and I chose what I wanted to buy from her. Afterwards, she sent me her Palmpay account details and I sent money for both the dress and waybill,” she said.

“She told me I’d be getting the dress by June 19. But on the said day, I waited endlessly for the driver she claimed to be sending the dress through to call. He didn’t call.
“Afterwards, I called her, but her number was switched off. I also tried to chat with her via the same WhatsApp number we’d been chatting with, but I noticed she had blocked me.”
Nwonu said she returned to Classicwearsbytee’s Instagram page to ask her about her dress.
“I went to her page on Instagram and chatted her up. I guess she responded to my chat because she didn’t see my profile picture all the while that we chatted on WhatsApp. So, she didn’t know I was the one.

“After explaining my plight, she didn’t reply, and before I knew it, I realised I had been blocked. She had blocked me on Instagram too.
“I haven’t been able to reach her since then,” she said.
When FIJ contacted the vendor, her lines were switched off. On Instagram, she blocked our reporter after asking her about Nwonu’s complaint.
