Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the Ikeja High Court, Lagos, has sentenced Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, to life imprisonment.
The billionaire kidnapper was said to have participated in the kidnap of Donatius Dunu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maydon Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Evans was convicted on Friday alongside Uche Amadi and Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu, two of his accomplices, after being found guilty of criminal conspiracy and kidnap.

The judge acquited Ogechi Uchechukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi and Victor Aduba, three other co-defendants in the case.
While sentencing the trio of Evans, Amadi and Nwachukwu, the court noted that none of them showed any remorse, but tried to lie their way out.
“The law is the law and must be upheld. The maximum sentence for the crime of kidnapping in Lagos state is life imprisonment, and the court has no powers to exercise its discretion in this regard,” Justice Oshodi stated.

The court relied on the provisions of section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015 and section 2(1) of the Kidnapping (Prohibition) Laws of Lagos State, 2017.
After the judgment, the three convicts were taken back to the Kirikiri correctional facility in a green van amid heavy security.
