Elizabeth Arinde, the head of legal department at Oke Ero Local Government Area, Kwara State, was kidnapped on Friday evening with another official.

FIJ gathered that Arinde was travelling to Ilorin from Ilofa, the headquarters of Oke Ero LGA, along with Musbau Amuda, the director of personnel management for Ilorin West, when both of them were taken.

Speaking with FIJ on Sunday, one of Arinde’s relatives, who does not want to be named, said the family informed the authorities on the day of the incident.

“They said they are looking into it. But they have not been found yet. We don’t know their exact location.”

When asked where she was heading to when the incident took place, the relative said, “She was coming home.”

Circulating social media posts and news reports reveal that the abducted government workers were kidnapped around 6 pm in Eleyin.

In an X post on Sunday morning, Stephen Bamidele, one of the legal officer’s children, wrote: “Guys, abeg keep praying, reposting and tagging relevant authorities.

“Their demands are hefty, and they are putting Mum through much physical and emotional stress. She’s always crying whenever they get in touch.”

The Obas in Yoruba land should summon the baskets and mogaji around Eleyin and it’s environs for the incessant kidnapping around area. The said leaders should be held responsible for the activities of the kidnappers in that area.
