The Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), an agency of the Lagos State government, is looking for anyone with more information about an inDrive driver allegedly raping female passengers.
A screenshot of a heavily-built, bearded man in a native Kampala outfit has been trending across social networking sites in the last few days with the caption, “If you order any rider and you see this face, run. He’s always armed with a gun, knife and acid.”
On Saturday evening, DSVA wrote via its X (previously Twitter) handle, “Trigger Warning. If anyone has any more information about this, kindly get in touch with us immediately. Please use our toll-free hotline: 08000333333 or send us a direct message through our social media platforms.”

In another image, which appears to be an Instagram private message and features the driver in another outfit, a lady claimed that the alleged rapist had canal knowledge of her on March 17, 2023.
“This man was the one who raped me on my way home on March 17, 2023, with a knife and gun. Terrible experience. ATMs and phones were taken. I had to be a PEP drugs for 30 days and spoke to a therapist to heal. To think he has been on it since 2020 is appalling,” the victim’s message read.
Several people have also spoken of their horrible experiences at his hands.

“He kidnapped me and almost raped me too. Forcefully kissed me, collected my phone and threatened my parents and friends. Asked for ransom. I was still recovering from a surgery that time,” said another person.
Another message read, “This man robbed me and rapsed me last year June. He beat and slapped me when I was begging him.

“This man showed me shege. Collect money from me. Even collect from mama hand make I nor die. He say make I know who go bail me or use the knife take stab me. Collect my 12pro. We drive the whole Island. From Balogun market to Ikoyi to Obalende,” said another person in Pidgin English.

inDrive, a ride-hailing company, has said it had deregistered the driver after an incident was reported against him in 2022.
“We want to inform you that following the reported incident in 2022, we took swift action by permanently removing the driver from our app, as a result the driver has not been active on our app for a long time,” the company said on February 14 X.
“Unfortunately, the law doesn’t allow us to initiate this process; we can only respond once the harassed person lays a charge with the police. Please urge anyone who has had this experience to do so as soon as possible.”
