Iyanu Adetola (pseudonym), a project engineer resident in Lagos State, has narrated to FIJ how Max Air, a Nigerian commercial airline, has continued to withhold her N95,000 after they postponed her flight too many times.
Speaking with FIJ on Thursday, Adetola said she booked a round-trip ticket from Lagos to Abuja on January 2 for a flight scheduled on January 21. But just hours before takeoff, Max Air postponed the trip. Then they did it again. She eventually had to find an alternative way to reach her destination.
“I booked a ticket on Max Air’s website on January 2, and the flight was booked for 9 am under the booking reference (AGKS5L),” Adetola told FIJ.

“Just some hours before the flight, the flight was rescheduled for 2 pm, then rescheduled again for 6:30 pm. Due to this, I was unable to use the ticket.”
She said that since then, she has been trying to get a refund from the airline. Adetola explained that she had called, sent emails and even contacted the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the regulatory body of airlines, but also got no response from them.

“I have tried reaching out to Max Air several times with no response to get a refund. I called their customer service line and also sent them an email, but no response from them,” Adetola told FIJ.
“I went further to send an email to NCAA, but no response from them either. I want my refund from Max Air; they kept rescheduling the trip, and I had to seek alternatives.”
At 12:26 pm on Thursday, FIJ sent an email to Max Air, but the airline was yet to respond at press time. WhatsApp messages also sent to the numbers found on their contacts were yet to be responded to.
Phone calls placed to the numbers did not connect.
