Senator Mohammed Sani Musa representing Niger East Senatorial District on Saturday attempted to clear the air about a report by TrackaNG on an overpriced N125 million ICT facility.

FIJ had reported on Friday that Tracka had visited the ICT facility and found a single block building with no laptops inside, or any equipment that would justify the allocation of N125 million for the facility.

Sani responded to Tracka in a series of tweets saying he had “supplied laptops, desktops and other equipment earmarked for the facility”.

“As for the laptops, they will only be presented to the beneficiaries after the project is commissioned,” he said.

The Senator further said: “To also clear the air, the money allocated for this project  is N56 million and NOT N125m as you implied. The project is also under the Ministry of Communication and not NITDA. The Ministry has supervised and certified the work done so far.”

Sani who had also written to FIJ, condemning it for the publication of the story, said that the project was far less than the cost mentioned. Claiming that FIJ attempted to ridicule his person, he said that the cost of the project was N64 million and that the agency in charge of the project was the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing. In a space of 24 hours, Sani had provided two conflicting and misleading figures.

TrackaNG responded to Sani’s rejoinder on Saturday morning, saying: “Thank you for your response. Your rejoinder is still false and misleading to the public. As at this morning, as seen in the pictures. Our PTO and a community resident visited the site and confirmed that there are still no tech equipment in the facility.”
