President Donald Trump of the United States is considering 40 countries for a new travel restriction list.
Contrary to some posts circulating on X, Nigeria is not a part of the proposed travel suspension.
A memo Reuters obtained on Friday shows plans to impose US travel restrictions on citizens from these countries.
The ban is divided into three categories: full visa suspension, partial visa suspension and countries recommended for partial suspension.
For countries under partial suspension, visa restrictions will affect tourists, students and other immigrant categories, with some exceptions.
Meanwhile, countries in the third category could face partial visa suspensions if their governments fail to address certain deficiencies within 60 days.
The countries facing a potential full visa ban include Afghanistan, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen.
Partial visa suspension (tourist, student and some other visas affected): Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar and South Sudan.
