Eunice Dwumfour, a republican councilwoman and wife of Eze Kings, a Nigeria-based pastor, has been shot dead in front of her home in New Jersey, United States of America.
According to the New York Post, Dwumfour, 30, was hit with about 12 gunshots by a yet-to-be-identified assailant while driving around her home on Wednesday evening. The white Nissan SUV she drove crashed into two parked cars before coming to a stop.
Paramedics confirmed that she died on the spot.
Shortly after the incident, investigators at the scene said Dwumfour was caught on video speaking to the shooter, a man wearing a hoodie, moments before her death.
While speaking to the press, the deceased’s friends said one of the happiest days of her life was in December 2022, when she married Eze Kings in Nigeria.
Authorities said Dwumfour appeared to be the obvious target of the shooting and that a motive was yet to be determined.
Dwumfour had served the Borough of Sayreville since November 2021, when she ousted the sitting Democrat in a surprising election win. She was not up for re-election until 2024.
The FBI is currently assisting the police in the search for Dwumfour’s killer.
